A hidden gem in the West Berkshire countryside
Hungerford Park is one of those rare venues that feels completely private. It sits quietly within the West Berkshire countryside and offers gentle views across grassland and woodland. At the centre of the estate is the restored walled garden. It is full of character and has a peaceful atmosphere that couples fall in love with as soon as they arrive.
The first time I visited, I felt an immediate sense of calm. The garden has been brought back to life with great care. Every border and pathway feels considered. It is a place that holds you in the moment and encourages you to slow down. It truly is a hidden gem for a countryside wedding.

The romantic walled garden at Hungerford Park – peaceful and full of charm
One of the most thoughtful features of Hungerford Park is the five day hire period. Couples have full access to the garden across this time. This removes any sense of hurry and allows space for calm preparation. It is ideal for anyone planning a marquee wedding or a celebration that needs a little more set up time.
The estate also holds an alcohol licence. This means couples can choose their own bar service. It adds another layer of freedom during planning and makes the day feel even more personal.
This level of flexibility is one of the reasons I recommend Hungerford Park to many of my couples. You can create something that feels completely your own while still being held by a beautiful natural setting.

A wedding day at Hungerford Park
Wedding days at Hungerford Park begin gently. Couples often use the on-site cottages for their preparations. Guests arrive during the early afternoon and settle into the garden before the ceremony. After the vows, drinks and photographs take place among the flowers. The wedding meal follows beneath the stretch tent and the evening continues with music and relaxed celebration.
The estate offers several holiday cottages for up to seventeen guests. They are ideal for family stays or a quiet retreat at the end of the night. Childcare can also be arranged for anyone who would find that helpful.

Styling ideas and photography inspiration
The garden lends itself to romantic styling. The summer planting creates movement and colour. It also forms a natural frame for photographs. Many couples choose soft florals and gentle palettes that complement the surroundings.
The layout is flexible and can be adapted for intimate dining or a larger marquee. The garden does not feel overwhelmed by structure because the planting and walls hold everything in place.
One of my favourite details is the series of gates set into the garden walls. Each one reveals a new view and invites you into another part of the space. It feels like stepping through a secret entrance into a place full of life and warmth. It is a lovely moment for couples to experience on their wedding day.

Hungerford Park wedding venue is full of heart
I have seen many celebrations at Hungerford Park. One of the most memorable was a small summer wedding of twenty guests. The garden was in full bloom. The day felt peaceful, colourful and full of gentle joy. The space suits intimate gatherings very well. It also works beautifully for larger celebrations of up to one hundred and fifty under a marquee.
The team at Hungerford Park know every part of the estate. They are kind and supportive and always ready to help. They also have great knowledge of the local area which is very useful when couples need recommendations.

Visit Hungerford Park
Most couples book around a year ahead, although the venue can sometimes help at shorter notice. The best way to understand the space is to visit in person. Walking through the gates gives you a true sense of the garden and its atmosphere.
