What is the difference between a wedding stylist and a wedding planner?

A wedding stylist focuses on how your wedding looks and feels to create an atmosphere and design that represents you as a couple. This includes developing the overall design concept, choosing colours, textures, lighting, furniture and styling the tables and spaces to ensure every visual detail works beautifully together.

A wedding planner looks after the logistics, managing suppliers, timelines and the practical details that keep everything running smoothly on the day.

I offer both planning and styling as I have a background in interior design, which means I can support you on the practical side and the creative side together. It keeps the planning process and the design more cohesive and more manageable.

Is wedding styling only about how things look?

Wedding styling is also about how a wedding feels just as much as what it looks like. Other considerations are the overall atmosphere from music and entertainment, the different spaces and flow that are used throughout the day and the overall guest experience and how they are looked after.

Can a stylist work alongside our existing planner or venue team?

Yes very much. A stylist often works closely with planners and venues. I am used to collaborating closely with planners, stylists and venues, working together with a joined up approach to ensuring everything is created just as a couple visualises. Working as a team is hugely important to me. When everyone is collaborating and communicating the overall end result is always brilliant.

Is wedding styling suitable for marquee or at-home weddings?

Marquee weddings and at-home weddings start as a blank canvas which makes the styling especially important. Every element and aspect needs to be thought about and considered unlike at a venue where couples have to work around what is already existing, be that era or style of the venue, colour, style of furniture and room space. The freedom in a marquee allows for more creativity and personalisation to create your own unique venue.

When should we book a wedding stylist?

The earlier the better, especially if the styling will influence other decisions such as the layout or hire items like furniture and lighting. That said, a stylist can step in later and will still add real value in pulling everything together even if your plans are already underway.
