A Glamorous London City Wedding at The Berkeley Hotel: Elizabeth & Harry

There are some weddings that feel magical from the very first moment and Elizabeth and Harry’s early September celebration in the heart of London was exactly that. Their London city wedding was the perfect blend of timeless romance and chic sophistication, with a traditional ceremony at St Paul’s Knightsbridge followed by a stylish reception at The Berkeley, one of the most iconic London hotel wedding venues.

The Night Before: Rooftop Views and Cocktails

The festivities began the evening before the wedding with “his and her” gatherings for close family and friends.

The groom and his party enjoyed drinks and canapés on The Berkeley’s rooftop terrace, overlooking Hyde Park and the city skyline. Laughter, stories, and a few daring jokes filled the air (while avoiding falling into the pool!).

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and her bridesmaids gathered downstairs at The Berkeley Bar & Terrace. With pink velvet banquettes, signature cocktails, and joyful anticipation, it was the perfect way to begin their London hotel wedding weekend.

The Ceremony – Romantic Autumnal Elegance at St Paul’s Knightsbridge

Saturday dawned with golden early autumn sunshine, bathing Knightsbridge in a warm glow. Just steps from The Berkeley, St Paul’s Knightsbridge offered the most beautiful setting for the couple’s London city wedding ceremony.

Seasonal flowers lined the aisle with blush dahlias, dusky hydrangeas, textured greenery, and soft toffee tones, all nodding to the coming autumn season.

Elizabeth was radiant in her mother’s wedding dress, lovingly reimagined by designer Tomasz Starzewski. Paired with a pearl-encrusted headpiece and flowing veil, she embodied timeless bridal beauty. Bridesmaids in rich espresso sashes (a softer alternative to dark brown) and sweet flower girls completed the picture.

As the newlyweds exited the church with their beloved dogs at their side, guests showered them in dried rose petals packaged in chic “Sprinkle Me” envelopes, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the day ahead.

The ballroom entrance was framed by a breathtaking floral arch created by Fall Into Flowers, an installation of hydrangeas, roses, astilbe, and tumbling greenery. Inside, long dining tables glowed with tapered ivory candles, proteas celebrating the couple’s South African heritage, and elegant glassware. It was a true showcase of London hotel wedding luxury.

A Feast for the Senses

The menu was a highlight. Guests savoured canapés such as truffle arancini, octopus skewers, and shrimp tacos before sitting down to a spectacular wedding breakfast crafted by The Berkeley’s chefs. Every plate was a masterpiece, culminating in a refreshing Yuzu and Raspberry Tart with Cosmopolitan sorbet.

Dessert continued with both a three-tiered semi-naked wedding cake and a towering cheese stack, a playful nod to the couple’s love of good food. Guests could even take home treats from a late-night grazing table, prolonging the joy of this London city wedding into their journeys home.
